The detailed account of a tour sponsored by the American Reform Tract and Book Society, and the Kansas League of Cincinnati, to determine if conditions, especially in Kansas, were favorable to support the large scale emigration of anti-slavery Christians to the region. Excellent description of their voyage up the Missouri River, life in the town of Lawrence in the Kansas Territory, with information on Indian fighting, hunting, winter life on the plains, etc. Text block only, with no cover. Worn at corners and foxed throughout. The fold-out map is present, and pages are solid, making this an excellent candidate for rebinding.
